It’ been a while since I’ve been active on social media and blogging, even my hilarious one liner tweets have taken a back seat lately. There’s been a really simple reason for this… I’ve been super busy, and one thing in particular has taken the majority of my time. I’ve been very involved with our family business lately- it’s got nothing to do with photography, but I’ve really enjoyed being back in Joburg, staying with my family and having my mind challenged doing some rather complicated IT work. I took a short break from Joburg to shoot for one of my clients in Cape Town, but I’m headed back up to The City of Gold in the next few days to continue work on the projects I started in the IT world.
But back onto photography for this post!
A while back my ate Lloyd and I met to plan a shoot – which you can see we finally pulled off here. After our meeting over a cup of coffee, we walked over to his Cape Town agency to meet the team at Icon. It just so turned out that Toby was there at the same time. Apart from being a great model, he’s also an incredible photographer - check out his photography Instagram here. We chatted a bit about shooting together, exchanged details and were on our way.
Weeks later, we connected over message and decided to put our thoughts into action and set up a shoot.
This shoot would take us to the Hout Bay Harbour – one of my favourite places for a stroll – and one of the first places I ever visited in Cape Town upon my first arrival. On the way to the harbor, we spotted some whales playing just off shore. We pulled over to watch them… What a magical experience – we were off to a great start.
As is becoming more and more customary with my personal shoots, it was just myself, Dakota (my Hasselblad) the model, and myself. A winning recipe.
